The Family Suite gives you two separate double/twin bedrooms under one roof. Volcano Manor gives you three separate bedrooms plus your own living room, dining room and kitchen.
Either way, your family stays together without everyone sharing a single room — and we coordinate permits, transfers and trek-day timing around your group.

Rwanda vs. a multi-country family safari

Compared to stitching a family safari together across several countries, Rwanda offers a short flight from Kigali, one focused gorilla encounter, and a single boutique base to return to each evening — easier on grandparents, easier on young children, no long overland transfers between camps.
You don't need a special occasion to book it — it works just as well for a reunion, a milestone birthday, or simply the family's first trip together in years.

The Two Questions Every Family Asks Us First

The first is practical: nobody wants to book one hotel room for two adults and two or three children, or split a family of seven across whatever is left available. Costs multiply fast when everyone books separately, and space runs out even faster.
The second is emotional. Rwanda's gorilla trekking permits are issued only to travelers aged 15 and older — an official Rwanda Development Board rule, not ours. That leaves families asking a fair question: what happens to a younger child, or a grandparent who'd rather not hike, while the rest of the group treks?

A Trip Where Everyone Gets Their Own Version of Rwanda

Picture it: grandparents take a slow morning on the terrace with coffee and a view of the volcanoes. Parents head out for the trek they've been planning for months. Teenagers join a Golden Monkey trek of their own — no age restrictions attached. The youngest spends the morning in the garden or by the pool.
By evening, everyone is back together — one shared living room, one long table, one set of stories. Nobody spent the week apart to make the trip work, and nobody had to share a single room to make the budget work.

Three separate bedrooms, each with its own bathroom — plus your own living room, dining room and kitchen access. Cook for yourselves, bring your own chef, or let our team prepare your meals.
A private garden terrace with fireplace and bar, and massage treatments included. Also bookable as just the Master Suite and Twin Suite together for a smaller multigenerational group.

Traveling With Children Costs Less Than You'd Think

Up to 3 years
Stays free when sharing with one or two adults.
4 to 12 years
50% of an extra adult rate when sharing with one or two adults.
13 to 16 years
75% of an extra adult rate when sharing with one or two adults.
Up to two children per room, subject to availability. Exact costs are confirmed individually in your personal proposal — tell us the ages of everyone traveling and we'll do the math for you.
FOR OLDER KIDS, TEENS & NON-TREKKERS

Older Children, Teens and Anyone Not Trekking That Day

Golden Monkey trekking has a minimum age of 12 — well below gorilla trekking's 15 — so most older children and teenagers can join a trek of their own and come back with their own story, no babysitter needed.
For a slower day, there's the pool, games, a spa treatment, or a slow morning on the terrace. We can also arrange a boat trip on Lake Kivu or a Kigali day trip. Nobody has to sit out the trip — just that particular walk.
FOR YOUR YOUNGEST

A Babysitter for Your Youngest — So Both Parents Can Trek

Traveling with a young child who's not ready for a day-long hike? Our on-site babysitter looks after them with warmth and genuine care while parents are on the trail — a familiar face, a safe and calm environment, and a morning built just for them.
That means both parents can go together instead of taking turns. Older children and teenagers usually don't need this at all — they have their own options just below.
Let us know the ages of your children in advance so we can prepare properly.
